When tackling a bathroom, the first thing you should do is make a rough plan of the rooms dimensions and layouts (windows, door etc.). When it comes to the design, unless you have an idea in mind, it is best to look at photographs or planning guides on websites and in showrooms to get a feel for the decor you like. Ask yourself questions such as traditional or contemporary? It is important to keep in mind the rough size of your bathroom; many bathrooms are tiny in nature and can take more concentration than others. A clear modern layout is perfect for small bathrooms like this. When you have done some research you can start to piece together a design specification and a to buy list for your bathroom; not everyone is a shower person, some like a bath once in a while so this is personal to each and every individual. Now your design specification is all set, the next highly important task is creating a budget and to ask yourself whether or not you will be fitting it yourself or getting someone in to help. Keep in the mind the budget as you will want the best quality bathrooms you can get and they may be more expensive than you think. Designer bathrooms are a big market right now and there is more choice than ever so it is easy to find a bathroom suite to meet your needs, whether your taste is more classical bathrooms than innovative. However, baths can be the most intricate to buy – there’s a wide range of different types of baths: Jacuzzi, freestanding and corner baths just a few of your options. Make sure your plan is detailed in timing, the same when renovating any room things should be done in a particular order else you may have to redo things. I would suggest installing the essential bigger items: bath and shower first then toilet and sink before the likes of fittings and taps. Always check for leaks when fitting bathrooms. Lighting is very important to get right and can change the whole look of the room; contemporary bathrooms need lots of light especially those without any natural light. When everything is in place and working, floor is down and walls are complete is when you can add the finishing touches and go accessories shopping – towels, shower curtains, mirrors etc. Bathrooms need to be stylish yet liveable they need be easy to clean and storage has to be neatly organized. Once your luxury bathroom suite is all fit in and in working order; and your accessories in place, you can enjoy your bathroom for a long time, or if you’re like me a few years until you get bored of the colour or the layout and want to redecorate.
