What Is A Good Budget For My Renovations?
Many people when thinking of a renovation of there home forget the basic’s. Make your budget first!
Time and time again as contractors come to your home people just wish a price just to get an idea. If you just need an idea don’t waste a contractors time by getting him to come to your home and not even think of buying. With all the computor crap that is out there you can get a basic Idea of how much it cost for renovations just by putting questions in your computer. A example is for gutting A Bathroom the average price to do a job of this nature is $8000 and up depending on the size and tastes of the customer. If you wish cheaper materials or do you wish arble or granite. Big difference price and Labour! Is ther insulation that needs to be done or not . What is under the walls. If yo set a budget to spend $8000 maybe you should keep an extra $2000 just in case.
Most times there are problems that you ca not see that need to fix first. As a contractor you can not leave a problem and what if the customer does not have the money to fix it.
A basement renovation costs a lot more than other renovations in the house. Many people wish a bathroom with a standing shower. Laminate bad Idea, Hardwood bad Idea. Mosture does not go good with wood. and cement produces mosture. If you still wish to use wood of some sort. Bamboo is good and strong. and it comes from the rain forest and places with high humid conditions. You will still need that expensive sub floor and maybe even a heated floor for tiles.I hate getting my feet cold and you probably will to.
As you kind of got an idea now of what you are looking for and you now have a budget of to work with now you can find a contractor that is insured and fits your needs!
